Professor Dr. Holger Preuß hat auf dem "20th international Science Congress", der größten sportwissenschaftlichen Konferenz der Türkei einen Vortrag gehalten. Vom 28. November bis 01. Dezember trafen sich die Teilnehmenden unter dem Motto "From the Past to the Future" in der türkischen Hauptstadt Antalya zu aktuellen Themen im Sportmanagement, sowie Sport & Gesundheit.
Mit seinem Vortrag zum Thema „Purpose Driven Decision Making – A Challenge for Sport Organisations” thematisierte Professor Dr. Holger Preuß die Problematik, dass in Sportorganisationen häufig die konkrete Daseinsberechtigung und Zielformulierung fehle und häufig gar nicht an die Mitarbeiter weitergegeben wird, für was die Organisation eigentlich stehen soll. Während zwar Strategien entwickelt, sowie Visionen und Missionen formuliert werden, fehlt es aber an konkreten Umsetzungsimpulsen, einer guten Kommunikation, sowie der konkreten Budgetierung.
Die Konferenz hat viele Akademiker und Forscher im Bereich des Sportmanagements mit der Sportpraxis zusammengeführt. Ebenfalls zu Gast war auch der Präsident des Organisationskommittees Prof. Dr. İbrahim YILDIRAN (Gazi University), sowie Kostas Georgiadis (Dean IOA und Univ. of Peleponese, Greece) die beide an unserem Sportinstitut in Mainz promoviert haben.
Neben dem Besuch dieser sportwissenschaftlichen Konferenz in Antalya waren Vertreter der JGU dieses Jahr bereits mit dem MESGO Studiengang zur Session „Zukunft des Sports“ in Istanbul und mit dem ERASMUS+ Projekt RINGS zum Workshop beim Türkischen Olympischen Komitee (ebenfalls Istanbul). Laut Professor Preuß ist die Türkei im Sportmanagement "ein schlafender Riese, der bald erwachen könnte".

Professor Dr. Holger Preuß has given a lecture at the "20th international Science Congress", the largest sports science conference in Turkey. From November 28 to December 1, the participants met under the motto "From the Past to the Future" in the Turkish capital Antalya to discuss current topics in sports management and sports & health.
In his lecture on "Purpose Driven Decision Making - A Challenge for Sport Organizations", Professor Dr. Holger Preuß addressed the problem that sport organizations often lack a concrete justification for their existence and the formulation of goals, and that it is often not even passed on to the employees what the organization is actually supposed to stand for. While strategies are developed, and visions and missions are formulated, there is a lack of concrete implementation impulses, good communication, and concrete budgeting.
The conference brought together many academics and researchers in the field of sports management with sports practice. Also guests were the president of the organizing committee Prof. Dr. İbrahim YILDIRAN (Gazi University), as well as Kostas Georgiadis (Dean IOA and Univ. of Peleponese, Greece) who both graduated from our sports institute in Mainz.
In addition to attending this sports science conference in Antalya, JGU representatives have already been to Istanbul this year with the MESGO program for the session "Future of Sports" and with the ERASMUS+ project RINGS for the workshop at the Turkish Olympic Committee (also Istanbul). According to Professor Preuß, Turkey is "a sleeping giant in sports management that could soon awaken".
