Die 33. Ausgabe der Konferenz der European Association for Sport Management (EASM) in Budapest war für Prof. Dr. Holger Preuss etwas ganz Besonderes.
Die 33. EASM-Konferenz begann stilvoll an der Hungarian University of Sports Science mit der Keynote-Podiumsdiskussion von Prof. Dr. Holger Preuß zum Thema „Die Zukunft des Sports und wie man Nachhaltigkeit managt“. In Anlehnung an das Thema der Konferenz „Nachhaltigkeit im Sportmanagement“ wurde in der Präsentation untersucht, wie sich der Sport anpassen und für die Zukunft nachhaltiger werden muss.
Anschließend wurde Prof. Dr. Preuß auf der Bühne von Lisa Allan, Generalsekretärin der International Judo Federation, Gergely Markus, Sportdirektor von World Triathlon, und Viktor Huszar, Mitbegründer und Vorsitzender von Teqball, begleitet. Unter der Moderation von Prof. Dr. Preuß diskutierten sie über die verschiedenen Herausforderungen, denen sich ihre Sportarten stellen müssen.
Am zweiten Tag der Konferenz wurde Prof. Dr. Preuß auf der Jahreshauptversammlung der EASM für seine Verdienste um die EASM und das European Sport Management Quarterly geehrt. Für Ersteres war Prof. Dr. Preuß von 2011 bis 2014 als Editor in Chief tätig. Bei den EASM-Konferenzen ist er seit 2004 ständig präsent. Er brachte nicht nur einige seiner Ideen in Grundsatzreden und Präsentationen ein, sondern leistete auch einen aktiven Beitrag zu Doktoranden-Workshops und Redaktionssitzungen. Durch die EASM hat er das Forschungsgebiet der Mega-Event-Forschung und des Event-Erbes im Sportmanagement mitgeprägt und vorangebracht.
Für seine kontinuierlichen Beiträge wurde Prof. Dr. Holger Preuß zusammen mit anderen Wissenschaftler*innen, die das Gebiet des Sportmanagements geprägt haben, mit dem "EASM Distinguished Service Award" ausgezeichnet.

Prof. Dr. Holger Preuss wins prize at the EASM 2025
The 33rd edition of the European Association for Sport Management (EASM) Conference in Budapest was particularly special for Prof. Dr. Holger Preuss.
The 33rd EASM Conference kicked off in style at the Hungarian University of Sports Science with Prof. Dr. Holger Preuss' keynote panel. "The Future of Sport and How to Manage Sustainability". Following the theme of the conference, "Sustainability in Sport Management", the presentation explored how sports will have to adapt and become more sustainable for the future.
Then, Prof. Dr. Preuss was joined on stage by Lisa Allan, Secretary General for the International Judo Federation, Gergely Markus, World Triathlon's Sport Director, and Teqball's Co-founder and Chairman, Viktor Huszar. With Prof. Dr. Preuss moderating, they debated about the different challenges coming up for their sports.
The second day of the Conference saw Prof. Dr. Preuss being recognized for his contributions for both EASM and the European Sport Management Quarterly at EASM’s Annual General Meeting. For the former, Prof. Dr. Preuss served as Editor-in-Chief from 2011 to 2014. For EASM Conferences, he has had a constant presence since 2004. By not only lending some of his ideas in keynote speeches and presentations but, also, actively contributing to PhD workshops and editor sessions. Through EASM, he co-shaped and advanced the research field of mega event research and event legacy within sport management.
For his constant contributions, Prof. Dr. Holger Preuss was given the EASM Distinguished Service Award alongside other scholars that have impacted the sport management field.
