Am 21.02.2023 nahmen Prof. Dr. Holger Preuß mit seinen Doktorand*innen Kim Schu, Yannick Rinker und Antonia Hannawacker an der von der CDES und der Universität Luxemburg organisierten Konferenz „The Economic and Legal Aspects of the Organisation of Football in Europe“ teil.

In den zwei Panels mit hochklassigen Rednern stand vor allem die Pyramidenstruktur des Europäischen Sportmodells in Bezug auf den Europäischen Fußball im Vordergrund. Zum einen wurden die Vorteile, die aus eben dieser Struktur resultieren, diskutiert, zum anderen die Regelungen nach EU-Recht rund um die pyramidale Struktur beleuchtet.

Neben ökonomischen und rechtlichen Aspekten, wurden auch viele weitere Aspekte hinsichtlich der pyramidalen Organisationsstruktur des Fußballs, aber auch des gesamten organisierten Sports in Europa miteinbezogen. So wurde beispielsweise auch die Studie: „The European sport model: A report to the European Commission“ vorgestellt (hier abrufbar).

Trotz des straffen Zeitplans, gab es darüber hinaus auch ausreichend Möglichkeiten für interessante Gespräche mit den Sprechern und Teilnehmenden aus ganz Europa.

On 21 February 2023, Prof. Dr. Holger Preuß and his PhD students Kim Schu, Yannick Rinker and Antonia Hannawacker took part in the conference "The Economic and Legal Aspects of the Organisation of Football in Europe" organised by the CDES and the University of Luxembourg.

In the two panels with top-class speakers, the main focus was on the pyramid structure of the European Model of Sport in relation to European football. On the one hand, the advantages resulting from this structure were discussed, and on the other hand, the regulations under EU law surrounding the pyramidal structure were examined.

In addition to economic and legal aspects, many other aspects of the pyramidal organisational structure of football, but also of organised sport as a whole in Europe, were also included. For example, the study: "The European sport model: A report to the European Commission" was presented (available here).

Despite the tight schedule, there were also plenty of opportunities for interesting discussions with the speakers and participants from all over Europe.
