Am 27.01.2026 fand der diesjährige Neujahrsempfang der Abteilung Sportökonomie, -soziologie und -geschichte am Institut für Sportwissenschaft statt. In angenehmer Atmosphäre bot die Veranstaltung neben einem spannenden Ausblick auf das kommende Jahr viel Raum für persönlichen Austausch.
Ganz im Zeichen des Jahres 2026, dem Jahr des Feuerpferdes, stellte Abteilungsleiter Prof. Dr. Holger Preuß den Ausblick auf das kommende Jahr unter die Leitmotive schneller Veränderungen, neuer Möglichkeiten, persönlichen Wachstums sowie eines klaren Fokus auf Bewegung statt Stillstand. Dabei ging er unter anderem auf neue Forschungsprojekte ein, wie das europäische Kooperationsprojekt STRONG, das sich der Unterstützung, dem Schutz und der Förderung der Rechte und Verantwortlichkeiten von Athlet*innen innerhalb der Olympischen Bewegung widmet. Zudem wurden kommende Highlights wie die Olympischen und Paralympischen Winterspiele in Mailand und Cortina d'Ampezzo thematisiert.
Ein weiterer Programmpunkt lud die Anwesenden dazu ein, Gedanken zu Dingen aufzuschreiben, für die sie dankbar sind – eine schöne und bewusste Art, gemeinsam in das neue Jahr zu starten.
Im Anschluss blieb ausreichend Zeit für Gespräche in entspannter Runde mit ehemaligen, aktuellen und neuen Mitarbeiter*innen sowie Freund*innen der Abteilung. Auch für das leibliche Wohl war dank Prof. Dr. Holger Preuß und seiner Frau Hatice wie immer bestens gesorgt.

New Year's reception of the Department of Sports Economics, Sociology and History
On 27 January 2026, this year's New Year's reception of the Department of Sports Economics, Sociology and History took place at the Institute of Sports Science. In a pleasant atmosphere, the event offered an exciting outlook on the coming year and plenty of opportunity for personal exchange.
In keeping with the theme of 2026, the Year of the Fire Horse, the head of department Prof. Dr. Holger Preuß presented his outlook for the coming year under the guiding principles of rapid change, new opportunities, personal growth and a clear focus on movement rather than stagnation. Among other things, he discussed new research projects, such as the European cooperation project STRONG, which is dedicated to supporting, protecting and promoting the rights and responsibilities of athletes within the Olympic Movement. Upcoming highlights such as the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Milano and Cortina d'Ampezzo were also discussed.
Another item on the agenda invited attendees to write down things they are grateful for – a lovely and mindful way to start the new year together.
Afterwards, there was plenty of time for relaxed conversations with former, current and new employees, as well as friends of the department. As always, Prof. Dr. Holger Preuß and his wife Hatice ensured that everyone was well catered for.
