Am 19. Februar besuchte die Abteilung Sportökonomie, -soziologie & -geschichte das 15. Innsbrucker Sportökonomie & -Management Symposium. Die Veranstaltung bot auch in diesem Jahr eine Vielzahl spannender Vorträge aus unterschiedlichen Bereichen der Sportökonomie und des Sportmanagements.
Das Symposium wird seit mittlerweile über zehn Jahren von Prof. Dr. Martin Schnitzer (LFU Innsbruck) gemeinsam mit Prof. Dr. Holger Preuß (JGU Mainz) ausgerichtet und hat sich als wichtige Plattform für den wissenschaftlichen Austausch der Sportökonomie und des Sportmanagements etabliert.Die Organisation lag in diesem Jahr in den Händen von Lilly Barner (LFU Innsbruck) und Dr. Norbert Schütte (JGU).
In vier parallel laufenden Sessions präsentierten (Nachwuchs-)Wissenschaftler*innen am Institut für Sportwissenschaft der Universität Innsbruck aktuelle Ergebnisse ihrer Forschung. Das Themenspektrum reichte von Nachhaltigkeit über Marketing und Eventmanagement bis hin zu Fragen der Integrität und Dopingprävention. Die Vielfalt der Beiträge unterstrich einmal mehr die interdisziplinäre Ausrichtung sowie die gesellschaftliche Relevanz von Sportökonomie und -management.
Eine Besonderheit in diesem Jahr war die enge Einbindung des DAiSI-Promotionsprogramms: Parallel fanden in einem eigenen Raum Vorträge von Teilnehmer*innen der DAiSI Winter School statt. Dadurch wurde das zentrale Anliegen des Symposiums, Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen eine lehrreiche und unterstützende Atmosphäre für Präsentation und Austausch zu bieten, nochmals besonders hervorgehoben.

Im Anschluss an das Symposium nutzte die Abteilung die Gelegenheit, drei weitere Tage für gemeinsames Teambuilding in Innsbruck und im Skigebiet Axamer Lizum, der olympischen Sportstätte der Olympischen Winterspiele 1964 und 1976, zu verbringen. Bei massig Neuschnee standen gemeinsames Skifahren und der informelle Austausch im Vordergrund, während die Abende in geselliger Runde in Innsbruck ausklangen. Wie bereits in den vergangenen Jahren erwies sich auch dieses Teamevent als rundum gelungene Maßnahme zur Stärkung des Zusammenhalts. Besonders erfreulich war auch dieses Mal wieder die große Beteiligung aus der Abteilung. Ein Teil der Gruppe nutzte darüber hinaus den Samstag für ein sportliches Highlight und reiste zum Biathlon-Damenfinale der Olympische Winterspiele Milano Cortina, bei dem die Medaillenentscheidung der Damen live miterlebt wurde. Dies war ein außergewöhnliches und eindrucksvolles Erlebnis, das den gemeinsamen Aufenthalt perfekt abrundete.

Visit to the 15th Innsbruck Sport Economics & Sport Management Symposium
On February 19, the Department of Sport Economics, Sociology & History attended the 15th Innsbruck Sport Economics & Sport Management Symposium. As in previous years, the event featured a wide range of engaging presentations from various fields of sport economics and sport management.
For more than a decade, the symposium has been organized by Prof. Dr. Martin Schnitzer (LFU Innsbruck) together with Prof. Dr. Holger Preuß (JGU Mainz) and has become an important platform for academic exchange in sport economics and sport management.
Across four parallel sessions, (early-career) researchers presented current findings at the Institute of Sport Science at the University of Innsbruck. Topics ranged from sustainability in sport to marketing and event management, as well as issues of integrity and doping prevention. The diversity of contributions once again highlighted the interdisciplinary nature and societal relevance of sport economics and sport management.This year’s on-site organization was coordinated by Lilly Barner (LFU Innsbruck) and Dr. Norbert Schütte (JGU).
A special feature this year was the close integration of the DAiSI doctoral program: Presentations by participants of the DAiSI Winter School took place in a dedicated parallel session. This further emphasized one of the symposium’s core objectives—providing early-career researchers with a supportive and enriching environment for presenting their work and engaging in academic exchange.

Following the symposium, the department took the opportunity to spend three more days together in Innsbruck and the Axamer Lizum ski resort, the Olympic venue for the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics, for team building. With plenty of fresh snow, the focus was on skiing together and informal exchanges, while the evenings were spent in convivial company in Innsbruck. As in previous years, this team event proved to be an all-round success in strengthening cohesion. Once again, the high level of participation from the department was particularly pleasing. Some of the group also took advantage of Saturday for a sporting highlight and traveled to the women's biathlon final at the Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, where they watched the women's medal decision live. This was an extraordinary and impressive experience that perfectly rounded off the joint stay.
