Am Montag, den 13. April fand die Einführungsveranstaltung der neuen Masterkohorte im Internationalen Sportmanagement (Jahrgang XII) statt. Ab 14:00 Uhr luden Professor Holger Preuß und Kim Schu die neuen Studierenden standesgemäß zum 1. FSV Mainz 05 ein und tagten in einer der VIP-Logen der MEWA Arena.
Die Veranstaltung begann mit der Begrüßung der Studierenden durch Prof. Preuß. Im Anschluss hielt Christoph Kaufmann, Head of Hospitality and Events, einen Impulsvortrag zum Thema Karriere im Sportmanagement. Dabei gab er persönliche Einblicke in seinen Werdegang und teilte wertvolle Empfehlungen, Tipps und Tricks, die die Studierenden auf ihrem eigenen Karriereweg unterstützen sollen.
Seitens der Abteilung waren auch Yannick Rinker, Antonia Hannawacker und Rolf Hufft Teil der Veranstaltung und standen den Studierenden für Austausch und Fragen zur Verfügung.
Im weiteren Verlauf stellten Prof. Preuß und Kim Schu die organisatorischen sowie inhaltlichen Rahmenbedingungen des Masterstudiengangs vor. Auch das gegenseitige Kennenlernen sowie der Austausch mit dem Team kamen dabei nicht zu kurz und sorgten für eine offene und angenehme Atmosphäre.
Abgeschlossen wurde das Event am Abend bei einem gemeinsamen Essen im Burgerheart Mainz. In lockerer Runde konnten Studierende und Mitarbeitende den Tag gemeinsam ausklingen lassen und die ersten Kontakte weiter vertiefen.
Ein gelungener Auftakt für den neuen Jahrgang XII, der die Grundlage für ein spannendes und erfolgreiches Studium im Internationalen Sportmanagement in Mainz legt. Das Team rund um Prof. Preuß freut sich auf die kommende Zeit mit den neuen Studierenden!

On Monday, April 13, the introductory event for the new Master’s cohort in International Sport Management (Class XII) took place. Starting at 2:00 PM, Professor Holger Preuß and Kim Schu invited the new students—fittingly—to 1. FSV Mainz 05, where the session was held in one of the VIP boxes at the MEWA Arena.
The event began with a welcome address by Prof. Preuß. This was followed by a keynote talk from Christoph Kaufmann, Head of Hospitality and Events, on careers in sport management. He shared personal insights into his professional journey and provided valuable recommendations, tips, and practical advice to support students in pursuing their own careers in the field.
Representing the department, Yannick Rinker, Antonia Hannawacker, and Rolf Hufft also attended the event and were available for discussions and questions.
As the event progressed, Prof. Preuß and Kim Schu presented the organizational and academic framework of the Master’s program. Opportunities for networking and getting to know both fellow students and the team were an integral part of the session, contributing to an open and welcoming atmosphere.
The event concluded in the evening with a joint dinner at Burgerheart Mainz, where students and staff were able to end the day in a relaxed setting and further strengthen their initial connections.
Overall, it was a successful kick-off for the new Class XII, laying the foundation for an exciting and rewarding academic journey in International Sport Management in Mainz. The team around Prof. Preuß is looking forward to the time ahead with the new students.
